The Benefits of Business Rewards Credit Cards
Written by: Bill Matthews
Business rewards credit cards can be a boon to companies and corporations of all sizes. For instance, some credit cards exclusively for businesses offer cash back rewards, usually up to 5% on all purchases. While some cards specify a list of merchants and retailers where purchases accrue more points, others offer varying percentages on purchases made anywhere, even abroad.
The three most common types of business rewards credit cards are those with frequent flier programs, co-branded business rewards, and those that are geared specifically toward smaller businesses.
Frequent Flier Reward Programs
Free flights or free vacation packages to certain destinations are some perks of business rewards credit cards with frequent flier programs. For every mile employees travel, for either personal or business reasons, flier miles are accrued toward future flights. Some cards offer reward miles redeemable through any airline, while others use one or more specific carriers.

The JetBlue Card from American Express® is designed for those who travel frequently with JetBlue Airlines and would like to take advantage of the airline reward program. Through the reward program, cardholders earn one Award Dollar for each dollar spent on the card. Two Award Dollars are earned for each dollar spent on JetBlue flights, restaurants, movie theaters, gym memberships, event tickets, and golf green fees. It is important to understand that 200 Award Dollars are equal to one TrueBlue® point, and 100 TrueBlue® points are equal to one round-trip flight. Cardholders receive 5,000 bonus Award Dollars after the first purchase, which equals 50 TrueBlue® points towa.... Show More

Co-branded Business Rewards Credit Cards
Co-branded business rewards credit cards refer to those that are issued by both a bank or credit card company as well as another merchant, such as a department store or gas supplier. One of the major benefits of this type of card for businesses is that it offers perks in the form of either discounts, free merchandise, and cash back rewards from reputable merchants.
From savings on travel expenses, hotels and car rentals, even on the purchase of vehicles, this type of business rewards credit card may provide substantial savings over the course of a year. Also, with most cards, the majority of points earned never expire or have hidden restrictions.
Business Rewards Credit Cards for Small Businesses
Although the rewards may vary by lender, generally, business rewards credit cards for small businesses feature programs such as one point per dollar spent.
However, companies such as American Express offer extra incentives in the form of opportunities to earn additional points on specific types of purchases or at certain merchants.
American Express SimplyCash Business Card
American Express' SimplyCash Business Card, for example, offers 5% cash back on gas purchases, wireless services, or even on office supplies. 1% is earned on all other purchases and the cash rewards are automatically credited to the account at the end of each statement. Another perk is that there are no limits to the amount of points you can earn, which is great if you are using the card to purchase operational or start-up supplies for your business..... Show More
